The Town of Strasburg has two Historic Districts which contain significant architectural and historical properties. The H-1, Old Strasburg Historic District covers approximately 100 acres of land in the heart of downtown Strasburg. The H-2, Hupp Historic District includes the Hupp Mansion property and adjacent historic properties. Click here for a map showing the boundaries of the historic districts.
If you own property within one of the historic districts, improvements to your land may require the review and approval of the Architectural Review Board. The Historic District Regulations are contained in Sect. 2-12 of Article III of the Town Code and seek, among other things, to promote the "identification, recognition, preservation, and enhancement of buildings, structures, and neighborhoods that have special historical, cultural, social, economic, political, artistic, architectural, or archaeological significance."
Historic District Design Guidelines
The Town of Strasburg in August 2011, created Design Guidelines for the two historic districts with the assistance of Frazier Associates. Copies of the guidelines can be downloaded below, or paper copies are available at the Town Office or the Strasburg Library.
