Economic Development & Planning

The Economic Development & Planning Department is responsible for:

  • Increasing employment opportunities and expand the Town’s economic base through business development, downtown revitalization, and tourism enhancement;
  • Aggressively marketing and promoting the Northern Shenandoah Business Park and the Town’s commercial corridors;
  • Updating the Community Plan and the Town's Zoning and Subdivision regulations; and
  • Administering and enforcing the Town's Zoning or Subdivision regulations.

In addition, the Department approves zoning permits, and reviews proposals for new development.  If you have a development related question, need a zoning permit, or want to report a zoning violation please contact us.
