STRASBURG CHAMBER OF COMMERCE
GENERAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING
Hotel Strasburg - December 20, 2007
The December
Chamber Mixer was held on Thursday, December 20, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the
Hotel Strasburg. At 6:00 p.m., President Jill Webster called the General
Membership Meeting of the Strasburg Chamber of Commerce to order. She welcomed
everyone and thanked them for coming and expressed her sincere thanks, on behalf
of the Chamber, to Gary and Carol Rutherford for having the Mixer at the Hotel
and to Chef Andy and his staff for the delicious food they had prepared.
Jill then
gave an update on the year’s events. She said we had had an outstanding Mayfest
and that Oktoberfest and the Christmas Celebration had gone so well too; and she
thanked all who helped to make these successful and hoped that some new
volunteers would join in, in the coming year. Vice President Jay Winkfield
added his thanks, as well, to the many volunteers and asked those who worked on
each event to stand and be recognized. Jill then asked Carla to come forward
and presented her with a lovely plaque in recognition of her 5 years’ service as
Secretary to the Board, for which she was very grateful. Jill then told about
two families who are in great need this Christmas. The Chamber is trying to
help by taking donations for the families, and she said that anyone who would
like to do so should see Margaret Struder or Jackie Thompson.
Next, Jill
turned the meeting over to Jay for the elections. Jay said that Chamber members
would be electing a slate of Officers for the upcoming year, as well as new
Directors. He stated that the Officers nominated were as follows: Jill
Webster, President; Jay Winkfield, Vice President; Dan Kitzmiller, Treasurer;
and Jackie Thompson, Secretary. Jackie then handed out the ballots for the
slate of Officers. Jay asked if there were any nominations from the floor.
There being none and since there was only one nominee for each office, Jay asked
for the slate to be approved by acclamation. Everyone agreed, and the vote was
unanimous and the slate elected.
Jay then
stated that there were four (4) seats open on the Board of Directors, and those
who had been nominated were Rich Orndorff, Kate Sowers, Fred Thigpen, Marty
White, and Annette Whitley. Jackie handed out the ballots, and Jay then asked
if there were any nominations from the floor. Carla Wallen nominated Jeff
Aimonetti of Allstate Insurance, and Kate Sowers nominated Richard Seelbach of
Bygones. The ballots were collected and tallied, and the four new Directors
elected were Jeff Aimonetti, Rich Orndorff, Richard Seelbach, and Kate Sowers.
Jay thanked
everyone for their participation and reminded the members that the Chamber
Mixers were now quarterly and that the next one would be in February. Jill
congratulated the new Board members and said she was very much looking forward
to working with them and having them share their ideas. With no further
business, Jill then adjourned the meeting.
Respectively submitted,
Carla Wallen, Secretary
