Strasburg Recycles!

Did you know that each ton of recyclables collected saves the Town $36 in landfill fees and about 5 cubic feet of space at the landfill?  In 2011, Strasburg residents recycled 236 tons of material, saving the Town $8,505 in landfill fees.  However, that 236 tons represents only 11.7% of all solid waste collected.  WE CAN DO BETTER!  As a community, let’s make a goal to recycle 400 TONS of material between July 2012 and June 2013.

How about a little friendly competition to help encourage recycling!  For recycling collection, the Town is divided into two routes which are collected every-other week (click for a map):

Each month, the Town will track the amount of recycling collected on each route and report the progress on this website.  The winning route will be recognized at a free community pool party in July 2013.  In addition, the community-wide goal of recycling 400 tons during the next year will be tracked on the website.  If you have any questions about the Town’s recycling program, please call the Town Office at 540-465-9197 or email info@strasburgva.com.
