Trash and Recycling

The Town of Strasburg contracts with Waste Management of Virginia, Inc. (WM).

• The costs for curbside pickup will be $17.20 per household, as of July 1st, 2025.
• WM requires each household to use a standard cart.  Additional carts will be available for $4.50 per month (effective 07/01/2025).  An application for additional cart(s) is included at the bottom of this webpage.
• WM is unable to provide curbside recycling. However, residents are encouraged to take their recyclables to a Shenandoah County Landfill convenience site.

Quadrant System

The Town of Strasburg will be broken up into four (4) sections, and each section will have a different pickup day.

Costs for Service

Town Council set the rate for customers at $17.20 (effective 07/01/2025) for the current fiscal year.  This rate includes one (1) 96-gallon cart.

An additional 96-gallon cart is available for $ 4.50 per month per household.  The form to rent additional carts is available for download at the bottom of this page.

Recycling

Curbside recycling is not provided. 

Residents are encouraged to take their own recyclable materials to one of several Shenandoah County Landfill Convenience Sites.

• Clean + dry plastic bottles with necks
• Clean glass
• Clean paper, paperboard, and cardboard
• Clean + dry aluminum and tin

• 349 Landfill Road, Edinburg – Accepts bulk items, household trash, recycling, hazardous materials, tires, paints, televisions, and other large items

Bulk Pickup

Bulk pickup dates occur during the spring and fall seasons.  Town staff will inform all residents via the water bill, website updates, and social media for pickup information.  For additional support, please contact the Town Office.
