Poet Laureate

Rich Follett

In July of 2018, the Town of Strasburg named Mr. Richard Follett the Poet Laureate of Strasburg. A poet laureate is "a poet officially appointed by a government or conferring institution, typically expected to compose poems for special events and occasions" (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Poet_laureate).

Although the commonwealth of Virginia has had an appointed poet laureate since 1936, the Town of Strasburg appears to be the first town to do so.  The city of Arlington, Virginia also appoints a poet laureate.
