Planning and Zoning Department

The Planning and Zoning Department is responsible for the review of development applications including zoning permits, site plans, subdivision plans, plats, special use permits, rezonings, comprehensive plan amendments.  The department also acts as a support staff to the Planning Commission, Architectural Review Board, and the Board of Zoning Appeals.

The Town of Strasburg is the governing body of the zoning ordinance for all development within town limits.  All zoning and development applications need to be submitted to the town for approval.  The town outsources the review and inspection of Stormwater Management and BMPs to Shenandoah County.  The town also utilizes the Shenandoah County Building Official for compliance with the Virginia Uniform Statewide Building Code.
