Below are some of the more common questions we hear from Town residents.

Can I burn yard waste or trash in Town?

All Town residents need to comply with Shenandoah County's open burning procedures. These can be found on the County website, or you can call 540-459-6101

How do I know where my property lines are?

Oftentimes the corners of properties are marked with an iron pin. If that cannot be located, residents can access the Shenandoah County Land Records at the Circuit Court in Woodstock (address below) in order to try to locate an existing plat or survey of the property. Also, you can contact a professional surveyor to perform research and set new markers for you.

I have large items I want to put out at the curb for pickup, do I need to call anyone?

The Town of Strasburg is working to run Spring and Fall bulk trash pickup events. Please montior the website and social media pages for more information on this.

When does trash get picked up?

Trash collection occurs on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday during a normal week. Different parts of town are picked up on each day, and more information on this can be found at the following page:

Where can I report potholes?

Please report any damage to public infrastructure (streets, curbs & gutter, street signs, etc.) to the Public Works Department using the YourGOV app on your smartphone or computer. (540) 465-3025

Who do I call about wildlife that are becoming a nuisance? (bears, raccoons, etc.)

If you are experiencing a problem with wildlife, please dial toll-free Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries wildlife conflict helpline at 1-855-571-9003. Also, you may visit their website for more information as well. 

Who do I call when a street light is out?

Contact the Strasburg Department of Public Works at 540-465-3025 or utilize YourGOV on your smartphone or computer. It is helpful to provide the pole number as well, which is typically on the pole around head height.
