Wastewater Treatment Plant
Wastewater treatment is an essential public service that protects public health, preserves natural resources, and supports the overall quality of life in Strasburg. Every time water goes down a drain in a home or business, it enters a carefully managed system designed to safely collect, treat, and return it to the environment.
Without proper treatment, wastewater can contaminate waterways, harm wildlife, and create serious health and environmental concerns. The Town’s wastewater treatment system helps ensure that water leaving Strasburg is treated safely and in compliance with all applicable state and federal regulations.
The Town of Strasburg operates a wastewater treatment plant with a capacity of up to 2 million gallons per day. The facility is staffed by a dedicated team of state-certified operators who work seven days a week to provide reliable, continuous service to residents and businesses.
Through a series of treatment processes, solids and pollutants are removed from the wastewater before the treated water is safely returned to the environment. The Town is committed to responsible wastewater management, environmental stewardship, and the continued protection of the Shenandoah River and surrounding natural resources.
