Popular Annual Financial Report (PAFR)

The Department of Finance is pleased to present the Town of Strasburg’s FIRST EVER Popular Annual Financial Report (PAFR) for the Fiscal Year ending June 30, 2020. The PAFR summarizes the Town’s financial activities from a more detailed report called the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR). The ACFR is an annual requirement and contains financial statements prepared in conformance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) as promulgated by the Government Accounting Standards Board (GASB), has been audited as required by the Code of Virginia, and has received an unmodified (clean, unaltered) opinion by Robinson, Farmer & Cox Associates, an independent auditing firm. The Annual Report can be found on the town website at https://www.strasburgva.com/finance/page/annual-comprehensive-financial-....

The PAFR award represents a significant achievement. In order to be eligible for the PAFR award, a government must also submit its annual comprehensive financial report to GFOA’s Certificate of Achievement for Excellent in Financial Reporting Program and receive the Certificate for the current fiscal year. Each eligible report is reviewed by judges who evaluate the report based on the following categories: reader appeal, understandability, distribution methods, creativity and other elements.
