Water Treatment Plant
The Town of Strasburg owns and operates a state-regulated surface water treatment system that provides safe, reliable drinking water to residents, businesses, and visitors throughout the community. The system includes a conventional surface water treatment facility, three booster pumping stations, and four finished water storage tanks that work together to deliver high-quality drinking water across the Town.
The Water Treatment Plant is permitted to treat up to 2.4 million gallons of water per day and draws its source water from the North Fork of the Shenandoah River. Through a series of carefully monitored physical and chemical treatment processes, raw river water is transformed into safe, potable drinking water that meets all applicable state and federal drinking water standards.
The Town's water system is operated by licensed and certified waterworks professionals who are dedicated to protecting public health and maintaining the highest standards of water quality. Staff continuously monitor treatment processes, conduct routine testing, maintain critical infrastructure, and respond to operational needs to ensure a dependable supply of drinking water for the community.
The Town of Strasburg is committed to providing water that meets or exceeds the requirements established by the Virginia Department of Health (VDH), the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ), and the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
Consumer Confidence Reports
Each year, the Town publishes a Consumer Confidence Reports (CCR) that provides detailed information about the quality of your drinking water, including testing results, water sources, and compliance with regulatory standards. Residents are encouraged to review these reports to learn more about the Town's commitment to delivering safe and reliable drinking water.
